NOW ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS: IN-PERSON (SARNIA-LAMBTON) AND VIRTUAL SERVICES (ONTARIO)
I was born and raised in Lambton County. Although I was physically gone for many years, my heart was always here. I recently returned to the community and am honoured to have the opportunity to serve its members. This is home to me, and it is where I have always envisioned myself making a meaningful difference.
As a child, I imagined myself becoming a teacher. Playing school was my favourite game, and I could easily picture a future in the classroom. However, when it came time for university, my growing interest in psychology and human behaviour led me to shift my focus and pursue a degree in Psychology and Health Studies. I followed this with a year in college, where I earned a diploma in Behavioural Science Technology. During this time, I was introduced to women’s corrections, opening my eyes to a field I had never considered. I became deeply interested in this work and realized that I could still make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and youth by supporting incarcerated women to rebuild their lives and successfully reintegrate to society and their families. Shortly after graduating, I began my career in the federal correctional system, where I spent many years working in various roles related to mental health, behaviour change, and education. The latter made possible after returning to university to earn a Bachelor of Education several years into my career. Despite finding fulfillment in each of my roles, I felt most at home working in institutional mental health services. I knew that obtaining professional licensure was the next step in fully realizing my passion, and the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program was my way there. The journey has been long and winding, but every experience has shaped me. I know that all I have learned will guide me forward in this next chapter.
Outside of this work, I am an Occasional Teacher with a local school board and an active volunteer for causes related to children’s mental health and healthy leisure. Most importantly, I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. These are roles that enrich my life and inspire me both personally and professionally.
A client-centered approach ensures that each individual's needs, goals, and perspectives shape the support they receive. I offer a collaborative, empowering environment where clients take an active role in their therapeutic journey.
I take a comprehensive approach to wellness by integrating mental health care and learning support. Depending on the cIient's needs, I draw upon evidence-based approaches including:
When working with children and youth, I use creative, hands-on, and interactive approaches to keep them engaged, using play, art, movement, and practical skill-building strategies that align with their developmental needs.
With adults, I create a collaborative and supportive environment, tailoring therapy to unique goals while utilizing techniques that promote insight, resilience, and meaningful change.
